Synchronisation tester ST-321, new digital Version.
All 2-Cylinder engines, carburettors and fuel injection.
In large two-cylinder engines, low-vibration running and good throttle response depend heavily on the carburettors running in perfect synchronisation. In these engines in particular, the throttle cables are often laid separately and require regular synchronisation. Previous methods using dial gauges and mercury columns were sometimes inaccurate or cumbersome to use.
Unlike vacuum gauges, these do not measure the absolute value of the vacuum, but rather the difference between left and right. And this difference is the absolute measure of the synchronisation of the carburettors or throttle valves.
This may still work with gauges at idle speed, but when accelerating, the gauges fail completely. This is because when accelerating, the vacuum in the intake manifold drops and the gauges fall to zero.
But this is precisely the area we are interested in, namely the moment when both throttle slides or throttle valves should open simultaneously.
This device only ever displays the pressure difference. This means that incorrect throttle cable settings can be quickly detected and corrected.
The device uses an LCD bar display to show whether the vacuum is balanced. If not, the carburettor or throttle body (slide stop screw) is adjusted. Then the throttle is opened slightly; if the LCD display moves to the left or right, the throttle cable must be adjusted. Done!
The device is mechanically and electronically damped so that the display does not ‘jitter’ and remains easy to read.
