A well known Problem.
V7 engines do not have an oil filter system, causing severe wear in the engine. Not only bearings, also the engine housing is affected by debris in the unfiltered oil. This debris (mostly hard, chrome like particles) sit in the soft bearing material, destroying crank, cam and engine housing.
We have developed a filter system for these models, similar to the original system used in T3- models onwards.
Difference is, the filter is not in, but on the rear of the sump, easy to change. Unlike other designs, our filter is, hydraulically seen, on the pressure side of the pump. This is extremely important in the case of a clogged oil filter. The intermediate ring is 20mm deep allowing more air volume to reduce pressure in the engine housing. This ring also carries the oil line and a brand new HMB pressure relief valve.
A new dipstick is suppplied, needed because of the lowerded oil levekl in the sump.
Kit comes ready to install with:
Intermediate ring
Pressure relief valve
Gaskets
Screws
Oil filter
Dipstick
We are often asked if there was a benefit from using more oil with the extended sump. The answer is no ! There is hardly any benefit from more oil, while the advantage of larger air capacity in the sump would be reduced to nought. |
